July/August 2014 Report

On the AO3 posting front, I'm still at July 2008. I'm at 275 (253) works now, which means I've added twenty-two stories since the last report. Most were newly posted (but previously written) stories for the 10 year anniversary of SGA. In addition to the above mentioned, I also finally posted my Extreme Big Bang story Protector.

I just saw that SGA Santa is running for the last time this year. I have conflicting feelings about this. On the one hand this will be my last chance to participate and I'd like to support SGA related fests (especially since we've lost many over the years), on the other hand, writing for someone always makes me stress about what they'd like and that they might not like it (and also stressing about giving feedback for my gift; I think a gift deserves some detailed feedback and sometimes I have a hard time with coming up with that). At the moment I'm tending towards not doing it.

Happy Birthday, popkin16! I hope you had a great day and that the future is full of positive surprises :)

Speaking of positive surprises: EA has made the complete Sims 2 collection available for free for a week via Origin. Code and how to redeem it can be found here.

Lots of fic and beta request

Ship, McShep
I've posted 17 previously unposted fics for the ten year anniversary of SGA. (No, they weren't all written just in that week. I'm a pretty fast writer, but not that fast ;)

I'm also still looking for a second beta reader for my Extreme Big Bang story (two betas are mandatory). I've posted my beta request with more info here. I'd be happy for someone to do spelling and grammar. (If you'd rather not be credited if you're not doing a full beta, that's perfectly fine. I could either specifically mention what you did or not mention you by name.)

June 2014 Report

On the AO3 posting front, I moved on to July 2008. I'm at 253 works now, which means I've added eight stories since the last report. Most were old. The newly posted fics were the two McSheplets challenge answers Prenuptial Agreement and Stuck in the dark.

I'm so glad I don't have to add another paragraph about still not having finished the Extreme Big Bang story ;) Expect a post with beta/SPAG requests soon...

On the AO3 posting front, I moved on to June 2008 (and I'm finally caught up with Joe/David). I'm at 245 works now, which means I've added twenty-nine stories since the last report. Most were old. The newly posted fics were the above mentioned Positive Reinforcement and the two McSheplets challenge answers Another Ring and Insights of a mind without memories.

And yes, I still didn't continue my Extreme Big Bang story. Not having an artists takes out the pressure of actually working on it. I'll see if I can motivate myself to do this in time to have two people beta it.

April 2014 Report

FanficCollapse )

On the AO3 posting front, I moved on to January 2008 (for the McShep and Hewligan stuff; I'm further behind on Joe/David). I'm at 216 works now, which means I've added fourteen stories since the last report. All except the above mentioned "I know" were old fics.

So what happened to my plans to write during vacation? They changed to the new plan of redoing my room. I went through (almost) all my stuff which has accumulated over more than a decade and sorted it or threw it away. I'm actually still not quite done. This kept me from working on fic, but it was very much necessary and now that I have a place for (almost) everything, I hope I'll be able to keep things more tidy in the future. (One can dream...) Maybe I'll post pictures once I'm happy. At the very least I could take a photo of my little Joe/David DVD shelf ;)

And yes, this means my Extreme Big Bang story still isn't finished. I'll get it done at some point this year!

Things are going reasonably well:

On the AO3 posting front, I've finally moved on to December 2007 (for the McShep and Hewligan stuff; I'm further behind on Joe/David). I'm at 202 works now, which means I've added eleven stories since the last report. One of these was new(ly posted; though written in 2012). The new fic I posted was Ancient Match Making (McShep, PG).

If you're wondering why I didn't mention my Extreme Big Bang story, it's because I didn't work on it /o\. But I plan to finish during my vacation this month.

In other news: The Blender Foundation is running a crowdfunding campaign for Project Gooseberry. Blender is an Open Source 3D program, and it's one of my dreams to one day create a short little animated scene of McShep with it. Project Gooseberry will help fund further improvements on Blender (and create an animated full-length feature film). You can check out the pitch or learn more here.

February 2014 Report

Things are still going quite well:

On the AO3 posting front, I'm still at November 2007 (for the McShep and Hewligan stuff; I'm further behind on Joe/David). I'm at 191 works now, which means I've added fifteen stories since the last report. Three of these were new. In addition to the above mentioned Porn Batte fics, I posted Like Fine Wine (McShep, PG).

The Don't Break The Chain method is still working quite well for me. I wrote every day until February 19th when I did something for work that I really wanted to finish before the latest release of our software. Since the chain was broken, I'm giving myself a few days without writing to concentrate on finishing my SGA Reverse Bang art.

I still need to finish my Extreme Big Bang story, so that'll be priority one after finishing the Reverse Bang art.

On a personal note, today is my 10-year anniversary at the company I work. It's amazing how fast the years go by.

January 2014 Report

Started off the year quite well:

On the AO3 posting front, I'm still at November 2007 (for the McShep stuff; I'm further behind on Joe/David and Hewligan). I'm at 176 works now, which means I've added two stories since the last report. Both were previously posted stories.

The Don't Break The Chain method has been working quite well for me. I did write every day since I started on January 6th, and the above average word count for January is due to that I'm sure.

I absolutely and definitely need to get back to my Extreme Big Bang story. The problem is that at 75k length it'll take me several hours just to review where I was, but I plan to do that tomorrow and then finish this thing this month!
